1. Service Description
BookJapan ("we," "us," or "our") provides a restaurant reservation concierge service for tourists visiting Japan. We act as an intermediary to make restaurant reservations on behalf of our customers ("you" or "user") by contacting restaurants directly in Japanese.
Our service includes submitting reservation requests to restaurants, communicating reservation details, and providing confirmation information. We do not operate any restaurants and are not responsible for the dining experience, food quality, or service at any restaurant.
2. Service Fee
Our service fee is ¥3,000 per successful reservation. This fee is charged only after we confirm your reservation with the restaurant. The service fee is separate from and does not include the cost of your meal, which you pay directly to the restaurant.
Payment is processed securely through Stripe. By using our service, you agree to Stripe's terms of service and privacy policy.
3. Reservation Requests
When you submit a reservation request, you agree to provide accurate and complete information including your name, contact details, desired restaurant, date, time, and party size.
We will make reasonable efforts to secure your requested reservation. However, we cannot guarantee availability at any restaurant. Factors outside our control, such as restaurant capacity, special events, or restaurant policies, may affect availability.
If we are unable to secure a reservation at any of your requested restaurants, you will not be charged any fee.
4. User Responsibilities
You agree to:
- Provide accurate contact information and reservation details
- Arrive at the restaurant on time for your confirmed reservation
- Notify us immediately if you need to cancel or modify your reservation
- Pay for your meal directly at the restaurant
- Behave respectfully and follow restaurant rules and customs
- Not use our service for any fraudulent or illegal purposes
5. Cancellations and Refunds
Please refer to our separate Cancellation Policy for detailed information about cancellations, modifications, and refunds. By using our service, you agree to the terms outlined in our Cancellation Policy.
No-shows (failing to appear at your confirmed reservation without notice) may result in being charged the full service fee with no refund, and may affect your ability to use our service in the future.
6. Limitation of Liability
BookJapan acts solely as an intermediary between you and restaurants. We are not responsible for:
- The quality of food, service, or overall dining experience at any restaurant
- Any injury, illness, or damages arising from your restaurant visit
- Restaurant cancellations, closures, or changes to operating hours
- Any disputes between you and the restaurant
- Loss of personal belongings at restaurants
Our maximum liability is limited to the service fee you paid for the specific reservation in question.
7. Intellectual Property
All content on our website, including text, graphics, logos, and software, is the property of BookJapan and is protected by intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our written permission.
8. Privacy
Your use of our service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information. By using our service, you consent to our Privacy Policy.
9. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting to our website. Your continued use of our service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
10. Governing Law
These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Japan. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of our service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Japan.
